Just wondering, if someone emails you a photo, how much resolution is lost compared to the original?
Is there any way to get a straight copy other than having a cd-r burned or puting it onto a flash drive? |

Nothing would be lost because of the e-mail. |

when you send an email of a photo you are sending an exact copy. so it is a bit like sending them a word document or pdf. nothing of the file is lost.
If you resize a photo (to make it easier for people to download) then you are losing quality.
if you put the photo on a photo hosting site (e.g. ringo, flicker, etc) they will often resize the photo for you to make it easier (quicker) to display. |

The photo doesn't lose any quality. However, for every picture that gets sent via email, a kitten dies. |

Every time you open and save or resave a jpg you lose a little quality. Do this enough times and it will look pretty beat up. |

believe it or not, a few years ago a friend of mine told me not to copy a .jpg because it would lose quality the more times you copied it
people really aren't up on this new-fangled technology stuff, I suppose |

Hotmail will shrink (resolution) your photo, if you use the 'attach photo' option. If you use the 'attach file' option it retains the original size.
I think there are certain requirements for the attach photo feature.
