Defamation suit ruling: portal sites must pay
Quote:
Hosts of Internet blogs and interactive Web sites that allow malicious messages to be posted by anonymous users are now liable if personal reputations are harmed as a result of the comments, according to a Seoul Central District Court ruling yesterday that ordered major Korean portal sites to pay 16 million won ($17,000) in damages. "Portals are not simply messengers to deliver information and they need to take responsibility when a person has been defamed by the messages posted there," said Choi Young-ryong, the presiding judge.

People killing themselves because 5000 people call them 'talentless' kinda sucks too.

Also, when you make a mistake and leave dog shit on the subway, you don't deserve to be punsihed forever and have basically the whole country refuse to see you, meet you, hire you, leave you alone, etc. It isn't that serious.

Too many nerds that haven't leanred what masturbation is yet, or they get their jollies by ruining people's lives on the internet.

i think it's time the world stopped treating netizens as people.

100% of the people on daves who try to start something virulent tend to cow when someone suggest that the conversation could spill over into real life.

i wonder what would happen if every korean who was shit-talked on the internet did what i did -"hey, this is my real name. here is my address. this is my phone number. come say all of what you've said to my face, if you really mean it."

it's not even a physical violence thing. if you're scared of debate, don't enter one.

netizens don't exist. the less the world pays attention to the little prats, the sooner they'll go back to 19-hour-a-day PC bang front desk jobs.
