|
|
I just read for the first time that one company YBM Education says they will include cost of plane ticket to Korea on first month's salary, and tax accordingly.
This is news to me. Ever heard of this before? Is this another way to scam $100 in tax?
Anyone have feedback on YBM? |

No such animal in Korean tax law. You're not in Canada now toto.
Their thinking is if you get paid in cash (reimbursement) then they get to keep the tax money from it. It is a scam.
Make them prepay the ticket and DON'T pay tax on it. Same with housing. |

It just amazes me how many million different ways that they can screw you. It's not a lot of money, but they'll just nickel and dime you to death.
I wish I was that creative... |

so is it fair to say that if this company will post this sample contract on their web, that they are basically telling you what kind of company they are, so just avoid them from the start.

I had my initial doubts about that statement but then I realized I pay income tax on my money earned, there's no additional tax taken off for the fair value of my apartment. That would certainly be a taxable benefit. |

What's next? When the boss takes the staff out for dinner, am I taxed for my share of the bill of the food he paid (and practically required) me to eat ... ? |
