So, they're building another 4 story low-rise apartment right next to mine. I live in a small residential community not in the main section of the city-a suburb. Problem is, the construction guys are loud as H E double hockey sticks with their chatting at 6:30AM every morning. Then, precisely at 6:50AM comes the even louder sounds of construction. This is literally 10 feet from my window. Aren't there any laws regulating start/stop times for construction? At 6:50AM Sunday morning and they are rolling huge piles of scaffolding framing bars onto the street!! Help me.... Oh no, here comes the circular saw! |

The sound of construction = the sound of money. That money then goes "Ka-ching" at your hogwan. Thats how you get paid. You can avoid the sound by moving to the Yukon. In the meantime, appreciate the shiney new building you're getting. |

I'd like to know this as well. There are four different building sites near my apartment. They started work this morning at 6:50am, all manner of clanging and banging, as well as my favourite - the circular saw. I can cope with it Mon-Sat, but on a Sunday?! |

They're building a HomePlus down the street from me. The construction noises begin around 6:30. Yet by the time I ride my bike to work around 1:30, they're all taking naps in their truck cabs, with their feet sticking out the window. They should just start later in the morning, thus eliminating the need for afternoon naps. |

Hmm, either it's coincidence that your construction and mine are starting at the sametime or 6:50 AM is the legit start time 7 days a week. Absolutely incredible that no consideration is given to the people living in the neighborhood, particularly on weekends. It's actually not too bad Monday thru Friday because I am up at 7AM getting ready for work but heck, on weekends, I'd enjoy sleeping in a bit. |

For the rest of my life, no matter where I am: The sound of a jackhammer and the smell of burning plastic will always remind me of Korea. |

To be fair, you'd need the decibel-reducing kind as well as the headphones. |

Word, and there is nothing wrong with even suggesting that this nation needs some anti noise pollution laws. |

What do construction workers do in a residential neighborhood at 6:25 AM Tuesday morning? Cut rebar of course. |

I'm almost certain Korea has noise ordinances regulating construction as well as other noise sources. However, like all laws in this country, they are ignored. For any law to be a law it must 1) be written 2) be legislated 3) must have sanctions attached 4) must be enforced. There is almost zero enforcement of law in this country from basic traffic laws to laws governing a multitude of other offences. Even basic common decencies are largely ignored but incredibly, I still like it here... So, I guess I should just suck it up and stop complaining-but dang they're loud!
What does tomorrow morning have in store? I'll keep ya posted... |
