I'm stoked! I just got my first Teacher's Day present: a four-pack of Michiko London Well-Being Socks.
Korea rules today!

So far i've gotten a ginseng tea set, a fruit party at my hagwon, a beautiful red carnation, a golf hat, a nice oriental fan, and a book in korean that i guess I'll need a korean wife for to translate.

When I got to school one of my favorite kids gave me a carnation in a little pot and told me 'It's a carnation'. Made my day. I could do without the ddoek - kinda gives me gas...

I have one morning class on Tuesday.

It's also the policy of our uni not to accept stuff. Sucks to be me.

Not to sound rude or anything, but I really don't want anymore of those droky, cheap fans from Insadong. I have one of the beautiful traditional looking fans. It is handpainted and gorgeous. I'll cherish it for the rest of my life. But these new fans you can find these days??? No way. They are tacky and cheesy/touristy. I can also do without that ddoek stuff. In 2005, a kid gave me a huge box of the stuff. It went into the garbage. What a waste! Parents are always bringing that stuff to my hagwon, and the kids barely touch it. Rolling Eyes

Well I feel better about avoiding the stuff. I feel like a first year elementary kid going for the elmers glue any time I go for it.

Are you for real? Where I come from it is the thought that counts.

I treasure every little sticky sweet and scrawled note my students have ever given me. I still have the first note given to me by a student at a summer ESL course back in 1997.

Rolling Eyes

Woo-hoo! Today I got a bottle of Ralph Lauren eau de parfum and a bottle of Burberry eau de parfum. Eau de parfum is the next best thing after perfume. Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also got a basket of flowers, a card, a pretty fan with a case. Not one of those cheesy fans. I also got a box of three different high cacao chocolate bars. One bottle of parfum and the flowers were from the same kid. Now this is what I am talking about!!! Also, one kid got me both the Ralph Lauren parfum and the chocolates. Talk about generous!!! 2 gifts from one kid and 2 from another! One of those kids also gave me some Estee Lauder lipstick a couple of weeks ago, because his Mom came back from San Francisco, and I guess she went to duty free. Wow!!!!!! This is a huge improvement on ddeok and cheesy gifts!!!

A fake rose, a three pack of socks, face cleanser and bodywash.

Best thing was the note I got from one of my students....

But the best thing I got was a conversation in ENGLISH about pro-wrestling with 2 of my students yesterday.

Any time my kids talk to me in English about anything that they are interested in is a gift to me....
