I don't want this to turn into a debate as to whether or not I am justified in breaking my contract early, I would just like to know if somebody could answer a couple of questions. First, my school said they understood why I wanted to leave and will take me to immigration to CANCEL my visa, but when I showed them the letter of release, they said they would not sign it. They will only cancel the visa with me at immigration. Once this happens, will I then be able to get a job and go on a visa run to Japan? The information I've found on this site is confusing. Many say I HAVE to have a release letter, others say that as long as my school accompanies me to the immigration office and cancels my visa I'm alright to get another job. I called immigration and they said, yes just leave the country and come back, however, their level of English was fairly low, and I'm not sure they understood my question regarding the release.

Going crazy trying to figure this out, any info would be much, much, appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. That's is what i think is going to happen as they said to me, you will have to leave the country within 14 days after we go to immigration. However, I just noticed that the form they filled out that they said was for the cancellation of my visa was for the Ministry of Justice. Is that normally the case, or should it be for the Ministry of Immigration. It has me a little nervous because it seems they never give me all the proper information. Are they somehow covertly blacklisting me and just telling me thta everything is fine????

Man o man, I just want to get this resolved.

You don't need a LOR if they cancel your visa. Immi should give you exit orders (14 days).
