Yes, Ive said it. I like the man.

That is not to say that he hasn't made some mistakes:

1. Targetting Iraq first
2. Yes, he has made mistakes in handling the situation in Iraq after the initial military victory
3. I concede he may not be an angel when dealing with human rights

HOWEVER,

1. Iraq should have been targetted eventually, and I agree about going into Iraq. I only think he should have gone alpahebetically: Iran was always a much bigger threat and it is Iran that should have been invaded first. Iraq second.

2. I don't think anyone would have really handled the situation better. Bush could have been an angel, it would still have blown up in his face. Why? Radicals. However the current problems there are not a sign that Bush was wrong to go in, but rather a sign that he was right to do so.

3. Human rights are an issue. I am all for them. However human rights are for humans, and terrorists are not human in my books. I'll let you whiny libs cry about how suicide bomber wannabes are getting trampled on, because I feel no sympathy for people whose only goal in life is to die taking out as many people as possible.

The reasons I like Bush are:

a) He is not a phony (unlike Hillary and most of the democrap candidates. Curiously this is why I actually like Obama, though I may disagree with him on key issues I like that he isnt a Kerryesque flip flopping little panzy or a walking fake like Hillary)

b) tough. And in a world where Islam is running wild, we need someone tough.

I am glad for Bush. I am glad that France chose Sarkozy. I hope that the civilized world doesnt cave in to PCism and instead chooses to confront the biggest threat to civilziation, freedom and democracy the world has seen since Nazism and Communism - Islam.

Time to stand up and be counted. I hope that they don't refer to us as the Weakest Generation in 50 years time.

I like GWB because he keeps a good perspective: I like a guy who places a lot of importance on "me" time; spending time in nature; getting back to his roots; and on vacation.

He does where his stupidity on his sleeve. I appreciate that.

You mean "Gives the appearance of being tough". Conversely, it seems like "rash" could have been used in that sentence just as well!

How does one justify the other? Under Saddam, there was only one guy you didn't have to piss off and you'd be fine. Now, it's all COMPLETELY random.

OK Why I don't like Bush.

1. He was never chosen to run because he has great political, managerial, beurocratic, or people skills. He was chosen by the Republicans because of his links to the Reagans and the Saudi's (amongst others). And he was chosen for name recognition.

2. He might be real, but those who thrust him to power aren't. They screwed John McCain (black babies anyone) and then they helped screw the electoral/democractic process with their Florida shicanery. Win at all costs.

3. He's real, a real moron. I'm sorry, but its not a badge of honour to be a C student, at least not for the leader of the free world. I wnat the smartest guy in the world.

4. He's a piss-poor buisness man. Every company or organization he's ever "run" he has screwed. See oil companies, texas rangers and now the US treasury.

reminds me of nazi propaganda portraying jews as subhuman. of course terrorists are human.

one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. keep in mind much of what the usa does is terrorism, and that's going by it's own definition of it.

Quote:
Actually, who is the terrorist, who is against human rights? The answer is the United States because they attacked Iraq. Moreover, it is the terrorist king, waging war.

I don't care how much you may hate Chomsky, he's right about this:

TIME Magazine attempted to make a silent statement by not including President Bush in the 2007 TIME 100 list.

The omission of President Bush has become a news item.

TIME Magazine readers have commented regarding the omission of President Bush from the list.

TIME is generally being roasted for the omission.

I will never buy another Time Magazine, after you didn't include the president on your list.

Posted by Jim Dufford in Randolph
Do people still read Time Magazine? You stopped being relevent in the '80s. Not listing the President of the United States is a joke.

Posted by Connie Price in Clermont, FL
Your omission of President Bush from the top 100 list is a glaring declaration of Time's leftist agenda. When you omit the most powerful leader of the free world, you snub your country and all it stands for- its freedoms, its democracy, its value on human life and liberty. Time should move its headquarters to a third world country, and then tell me who's the most influential person in the world.

Posted by daveinboca in Boca Raton
George W. Bush should be at the top of the list. Time Mag should be at the top of the list of has-been publications in a death spiral towards irrelevance.

Posted by Sam Brooks in Atlanta
Time Magazine, your writers and their opinions are insignificant.

Posted by W. Pach in Atlanta
Your comment The Times List is becomming irrelavent. Rappers, Actors etc . Who cares. The office of the President of the USA may be the most influential person. Whether he uses that influence wisely or not is not the issue.

Posted by Eric in West Haven, CT
So let me get this straight. Osama Bin Laden, The Ayatolla of Iran are on the list, but the most powerful person in the free world is snubbed OFF this list? I don't know if this political of what, but seriously, that is ridiculous.

Posted by Jack Waldrop in Charlotte, NC
You people are morons. Liberals like you are, not only out of touch with decent, hardworking Americans, you're out of touch with reality. The president, like him or not, is at least in the top five most influential people in the world. Anybody with any intelligence knows this and to argue against it is irresponsible. No wonder main stream media such as Time is becoming irrelevant!

Posted by RB in Flyover Country
We cancelled our subscription to time because of this garbage. Justin Timberlake is more influential than the President of the United States? They why do they spend every waking hour trying to destroy the man?

BTW... The only survey we got from them was "How was the cancellation process?" They never wanted to know WHY we cancelled.

Posted by frank reda in baton rouge
Your comment Time has shown that they hate George Bush ,but ,It is also a slap to the the face ofthe USA,not to have the President on the list. I will be cancelling my subscriptions to time for my 10 stores. Time is no longer a magazine I wish to be associated with.

Posted by Eric Garcia in Jacksonville
Ruler of the free world...maybe...George W. Bush??? I don't know, I think he's influential?

Posted by Chevy in Baltimore
List is a joke. It is just Time's way of trying to push your liberal agenda in conjunction with the Democratic party. What has happen to be impartial and objective?

Posted by Lori in Virginia
George W. Bush. I am so proud and grateful that he is our President and Commander in Chief. Also, Dr. Laura Schlesinger - through straight talk and nagging, she is (fortunately) able to influence both women and men to put keeping their marriages strong and raising their children in an intact home at the top of the priority list. What a concept!!

Posted by Chicago in Chuck
Wow! How pathetic that you can't see past your liberal selves and put the leader of the most powerful nation in the world on your list.

Least influential magazine: Time

Posted by Paul Oberreither in Wayne, Pa
I wish you would have included the president in your list.

Posted by Isaac in Denver
Every single news network is talking about how Bush did not make the list, most the people who made the list are on it because they have been influenced by Bush's policies. Weather you like George Bush or not he influenced you idiots to hate him so much that you left the leader of the greatest country in the world off your list. Your hipocracy knows no bounds. It is sad that not one of your companies leaders were influenced to just do the right thing!

Posted by masaki in tokyo
Rain? few Japanese knows him. He is not popular in Japan.

Posted by Deanna Schneider in Spokane
I haven't seen the list yet, but I understand President George Bush is not included as one of the 100 most influential. I am beyond words at the liberal bias Time is showing. If you can't name the president of the United States to this list, but you name the oh-so-ignorant Rosie O'Donnell, there is no hope for your magazine.

Posted by Jose in 29 Palms
Like many of the comments here...the list is a joke IN ALL. I don't even think it reaches 25% of the most influential here. Quite a very minor few do make that list. Aside from that, the U.S. president, even if you may disagree with him, is by far the most influential figure in the planet. You added Bin Laden and Raul Castro as influences but not the U.S. president. Oh yeah, you also forgot Hugo Chavez. Yeah he makes it on the list too. On top of that, the report was horrible on all the "most influential people." For example, Tina Fey, you write all nonsense stuff about her, but yet Lebron James, which I still don't agree why he's on the list, only three words, "He's really good." Awesome reporting. How utterly laughable. Seriously, you guys really need to get out of your little planets in your heads and take a look outside the REAL world and what's happening and tell your buddies at CNN to report the REAL news. How berating your reporters are. A complete joke.

Posted by kern in springfield, nj
It is clear that you wanted to be provocative and bring attention to yourselves at a time when 24 hour cable news and the internet have made a summary news weekly irrelevent to most news readers. The list is idiotic on so many levels that it shows us the desperation of a failing magazine.

Posted by Lynda in Kansas
George Bush is the MOST influential person in the world.... and although your biased magazine staff chose to ignore this and snub him, time and History will raise him up to the position of honor that he deserves. He is God's man for this hour and he has had the courage to stand for what is right in the midst of insults, lies and slander that have been hurled at him by the Democrats, the far left and their propaganda liberal press puppets, like Time Magazine. Time Magazine will soon be listed among the world's most insignificant magazines. Personally, I will find great pleasure in watching your demise!

Posted by Helen in Hettinger
And President Bush is not considered influential? Then why do the Democrats care so much to limit that influence

You complain about Bush's C. His graduating average was one percentage point higher than Kerry's.

You are indeed a legend in your own mind.

Not that I find it relevant (or incorrect) but do you have a source for that? Ideally legitimate.

I agree. Stop bombing muslim countries and messing in thier internal wars and conflicts. Why we ever thought sticking our head in a radical beehive was a good idea is fully lost on me.

I think Bush would be a decent dude to play a few games of pool with while getting loaded. That, in itself, disqualifies him from being a good leader. He is a man of the people. He is the lowest common demonator.

This is from a site called Number 2 Pencil

"During last year's presidential campaign, John F. Kerry was the candidate often portrayed as intellectual and complex, while George W. Bush was the populist who mangled his sentences. But newly released records show that Bush and Kerry had a virtually identical grade average at Yale University four decades ago.
In 1999, The New Yorker published a transcript indicating that Bush had received a cumulative score of 77 for his first three years at Yale and a roughly similar average under a non-numerical rating system during his senior year.

Kerry, who graduated two years before Bush, got a cumulative 76 for his four years, according to a transcript that Kerry sent to the Navy when he was applying for officer training school. He received four D's in his freshman year out of 10 courses, but improved his average in later years..."

Bush 77 to Kerry 76 As you say not much turns on it. A couple of gentlemen's Cs

He didn't run the Rangers, he was a spokesman. But he did make out rather nicely though. Financially for one, but foremost, he parlayed the exposure into the Oval Office.

http://www.angelfire.com/ok5/pearly/htmls/bush-sec5.html
Quote:
When George W. Bush first embarked on a deal to buy the Texas Rangers professional baseball team in 1988, he already had his eye on the governors mansion in Austin. But he knew that to have a shot at winning, he would need better credentials than a string of unsuccessful oil companies and a failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1989 he told Time magazine, My biggest liability in Texas is the question, Whats the boy ever done? He could be riding on Daddys name.

But his fathers connections were instrumental in helping Bush overcome that perception. Back in 1973, when the senior George Bush was the chairman of the Republican National Committee, Bush befriended one of fathers assistants, Karl Rove. Rove cut his teeth alongside the senior Bushs chief political strategist, Lee Atwater. Rove would become George W.s own Atwater, helping to run his 1978 bid for Congress and laying the groundwork for his 1994 run for governor. As the Rangers deal got under way, Rove told Bush that baseball was his ticket to the big time. It gives him ... exposure and gives him something that will be easily recalled by people, Rove said.

Roves calculation turned out to be right on the money.

Quote:
In 1998, Hicks helped provide Bush with an even greater windfall. He bought the Texas Rangers for $250 million, three times what Bush and his partners had paid 10 years earlier. The new stadium and the real estate around it greatly boosted the final sale price. And, since his partners had upped Bushs stake in the team from 1.8 to 11.8 percent, his cut from the proceeds of the sale was $14.9 million, a 25-fold return on his investment of $606,302. Rainwater, who had put far more money into the team than Bush, made $25 million.

Look at this the enemies of the US have the worst human rights records in the world. Coincidence this is not.

The US has all the right enemies including you BUM.

The US is at war cause the Bathists , Khomeni followers and Bin Laden lovers won't give up theirs. They don't have a right to their war.

By the way Chomskys' followers are no different than the Raliens.
