As usual, I pretty much only watched the final episodes, but Survivor continues to be one of the most interesting of the many "reality series" - especially from a sociological perspective (and there's always beautiful natural scenery and primitive imagery...)

This one featured an old, wise Chinese guy, Yau-man, who displayed great skill, determination, and strategic prowess, but who was ultimately done-in by "shocking" betrayal at the hands of an amiable ghetto-type con-artist, "Dreamz", paving the way for low-key ad executive, Earl, to cruise to unanimous victory at the final tribal council...

Dreamz screwed Yau-man by reneging on a deal that - in exchange for a new Ford "Super Duty" truck won by Yau-man - he would surrender his immunity idol to him (if he were in possesion of one) if they both made it to the final four.

Dreamz had made of show of emotionally vowing to keep his word in order to set a good example for his kids...

Although he clearly had considerable street smarts and survival instincts, Dreamz apparently was clueless as to how negatively his betrayal would be perceived by practically everyone...

(Don Imus would have had a field day describing this guy...)

Great thread title by Rteacher: Yau-Man has Bad Dreamz

Interesting side note-Earl was the first unanimous winner in the history of the show.

Of course Yau-man shoulda, coulda, woulda, but like you said: BAD DREAMZ! Laughing

I was pretty disgusted about the whole ordeal. He gave a promise on God and his son's life and then went back on it. He had no chance for a million, so why didn't he just do what he said he would do. He is a disgrace to his race and the strengthens the stereotype that goes along with it

I caught the tail end of the final episode last night on AFN, so I was a bit confused by what was going on. Reading the summary of what happened this morning, though.. got to say that Dreamz was definitely dreaming if he thought he could win the $1 mil. Stoopid stoopid!

He was an idiot...and then he kept lying, saying "I was always just playing you...I was never going to give up the immunity necklace," when in reality, he kept telling the camera during his private time that he was going to give it up.

On a side note, though, I thought the jury members were a bit over-the-top. What were they so angry about? Cassandra and Earl never screwed any of them...They were just trying to milk their 30 seconds in the spotlight...

I think he will go down in survivor history as the most hated contestant (with good reason too). I wouldn't have been as gracious as Yau-Man

I actually missed a few episodes.. the last person I saw voted out was Edgardo (I think).. so.. I gather Yau-man won a truck in a challenge? If so, at least he won something big, whereas Dreamz came away with nothing but a black rep.

Yeah, break a promise to God and your son and you'll have one angry son. Disgrace to his race?

I remember them talking about a curse that whoever wins the car ultimately loses the final competition.

I think that Dreamz not only broke his promise about exchanging "immunity" for the truck, but he also decided that he would still keep the truck - instead of giving it back to Yau-man...

But, he continuously flashed a big smile on his face at the wrap-up ceremony and said "we're all friends here..."

Yau-man charitably said that Dreamz had sometimes shown flashes of "genius", but that his mind was too undisciplined - and was "all over the place"...

Dreamz isn't evil. He's just a half-wit. Yau Man should never have dealt with a guy who can't even detect the lies that he tells himself. And Yau Man is right not to be angry with him. When you play Russian roulette, you don't get mad at the gun.

I disagree with the analogy. A human has a choice to keep his word or not..

A mature human has a choice to keep his word. Dreamz didn't choose the decision. The decision chose him.

That is being a bit presumptuous and minimizes humans to simple machines. We all have a choice. He made his choice based on greed.

Dreamz is the dumbest person that's ever been on the show. I doubt he even knew the jury would be deciding who the winner was.
And yeah, the interrogation by the jury members was weak. Laughed at Boo's Christian rant, where did that come from?

I am glad Earl won. The people I want to win never win, but I wanted Earl to win from the first show. Him and Yau Man were great to watch.

I agree the interrogaters were ridiculous. And Michelle is hot.
