This has always annoyed me too. Stupid W. You're either a vowel or a consanent. Pick a side. We're at war.

Well, I care, Ilsanman. The romanization of Korean is generally an abomination, but the W business is doubly stupid because (a) words such as Woori have no W sound at the beginning in Korean and (b) Koreans often cannot pronounce W when at the beginning of an English word. What's wrong with 'Oori Bank' or "Daeoo" exactly?

It must be crushed.

Its based primarily on aesthetics. Writing "Oori Bank" looks retarded.

There's a little something there, before the oo. It's not a full w sound, but there's something.

Talking about a ool-puh in the oods sounds retarded, too.

You make a good point, but is "seok" really much better? I think you made a valid point and then accepted another stupid thing at the same time. Korean romanisation is rediculous and even though it has improved, I hope it improves a whole lot more.

Why can't you decide if the gh is silent or an 'f' sound for cryin' out loud.

Talk about stupid romanization. English can't even get the romanization right and you want to rant on the Korean romanization.

I bet there are more romanization glitches in English than there are in Korean. The vowels are screwed up.

Korean Romanization gets it right more often than natural English. English should be Hangulized for better results.

Are you a newbie? I have given up any faith of Koreans doing ever anything correctly relating to English. You still have faith. Big mistake.
