I'[ve just been told by my travel agent that jal may have a travel embargo on dogs in july and august.
Has anyone heard of this on any other airlines? |

Call the airline. Yes, it's true that some airlines won't fly animals during the hottest months. You have to find one that will. That might mean flying an airline you don't like. |

Offer to write up and sign a release form stating that you will not sue or pursue any legal action against the airline in the event that the mut dies. |

We faced this too the first time we flew our dog back to the States. We had to fly her 1.5 months earlier than us to get her out of country. She stayed with family members. The airlines have less strict restrictions on cargo animals (unaccompanied pets) than on accompanied ones. Call JAL directly adn ask them about your options. Do it quickly, b/c for NWA at least the embargo starts in June. |

I would think the restrictions on unaccompanied would be more strict. If you don't make your flight they pull your luggage off the plane. What if my dog swallowed a bomb? She'll eat anything. |

When we've flown in the past, the embargo depends on temperature. If it is above a certain temperature (maybe 85F for non pug nosed dogs and 75 or 70 for pugnosed) on any portion of the trip, they won't fly them. Call JAL directly. I wouldn't trust a Korean travel agent to get something so important figured out correctly. |
