Recently there's been a couple 'bash the brits' threads where no one really came up with any remotely decent attacks on us. Most of it was based on silly things about the language differences between American English and proper English.

The reason the attempts failed were basically because America doesn't really have anything over us. Let's be honest. We're both rich countries, we both have excellent universities and education systems, we both have high crime rates, we both have a high percentage of our citizens living below the poverty line, etc etc.

However, something we have over the US, and I believe it to be an extremely important advantage, is the NHS. For all the criticism us Brits launch at the NHS we know we are so lucky! So many people around the world (USA included) wish they had it.

We break legs, sever fingers, get sick etc and can rely on the NHS to fix it for FREE! The service might be slow but that leg will get plastered up for free. That body part you f'd up will get seen to for FREE. You won't have to take out loans and pay thousands of dollars for operations. Imagine having to do that! Damn that must destroy famalies. One day everythings ok and the next you have sell everything you own to get your daughters legs fixed!

This clip from Michael Moore's new doc. is just one example of what we all know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFUtAaeYxno

So come on you Brits. Smile and be thankful. They're so jealous of what we've got. Blair was terrible, but he was right when he said "this is the greatest nation on Earth."

Here's a novel idea. Why don't we flush all of the country bashing down the toilet and have some down to earth discourse regarding the good, the bad and the ugly pertaining to both countries. Dialogue sans the judgement is so much more productive.

To the last poster. Go stick your bourbon and your shitty hockey up your jacksey. Both are a pile of cack. Give me a nice pint any day of the week. By the way Michael Moore rocks, he shows the true 'ugly america' and Borat did a great job too, but you wouldn't get that it's called humour.

If we are talking about Britain dont forget: rampant classism, lack of upward mobilty, a festering domestic muslim problem, a feisty Scotland with visions of secession, atrocious transport and a crumbling infrastructure, racism equal or more than that of the USA. It was one of Britains top funny men who said " Americans are better looking and richer than us, but funnier? Sadly they are funnier now as well."

Britain may have good medical care, but it sure is demonstrated through dentistry.

Is this something you've noticed from meeting actual people and looking at their teeth or is it just a stereotype you've heard? There are a lot of stereotypes about the British - reserved, stuck-up, bad at cooking, love tea and so on - and most of them you could hear in just about any country. But no one's heard of the bad teeth stereotype outside North America. That should tell you something.

Met many Brits in many different countries. While their choppers are not as bad as the Burmese, they are still overall shoddy for a rich western nation.
Sterotypes just dont come out of thin air.

So how come it's only Americans that have noticed? Like I said, you won't hear this from the French or Germans or anyone else.
