I'm trying to decide between a few places to live and teach for a year starting in early July (it's my first time), and I'm having a hard time finding any information in English at least.

Can anyone tell me about Namyangju?

What about Yeosu? I know it's far from Seoul, and I'm coming from LA so I'd kind of like to be at least near to a big city, so I can get my shopping mall/movie theater fix on occasion.

Originally I was going to be in Goyang, but I have a friend who is going to come out with me so we're trying to find two public school jobs close by each other, and Namyangju seems like our best bet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Namynangju is an armpit. Its hicksville, it the construction industry area for Seoul so you'll see miles of backhoes. Its long and skinny so the traffic is bad. Its very close to Seoul but it takes a along while to get there because of the traffic.

Thank you. It seems that is the consensus . . . I guess I'll be looking elsewhere for employment.

Consensus? I don't see a parade of people saying there is a bunch of backhoes there. If the school checks out, who cares about backhoes?

I know some people at public schools there and they quite enjoy it. Nearest subway station on the subway line is a 15 minute bus ride away, which the subway will put you in central Gangnam 20 minutes later.

Hey, thanks for your response.

I didn't mean the consensus of people on this thread, I might the consensus from every other source I checked out. Seems most people think Namyangju is all construction work and dust. Anyway, I appreciate the Wiki link.

I think I'm still going to try and find a job elsewhere, maybe with a little less construction traffic (I get enough of that in Los Angeles). Mad
