Hi, I posted this on the off-topic forum a couple days ago and was routed here...anyway, my dell turns on but after it goes to the DELL SCREEN and the windows XP page seems to load, it clicks and restarts the process and never gets to my password/log-on page. when i tried to a diagnostic check (using FN and the power key) it said 'an unexpected problem has occured...which could be due to a hardware or software problem...' then it gives me 5 options to start my laptop. at first, the safe mode opened and i could at least view my documents. now that isn't even possible. my boss sent it off to be checked by our hagwon's tech guy but i'm not sure he'll know what to do.

the dell guy in seoul seems to think it's a software problem but he hasn't seen the computer, only listened to my explanation.

any thoughts? advice??

thanks for anything you can recommend.

matt

Either something has got corrupt for whatever reason, or you have a failing hard disk.

Did you run the diagnostic check for the HD?
