Anyone have any information about this particular franchise? I know all the negative things said about Wonderland in general but I have heard that this particular franchise is actually a decent place to teach. Any insights? Feel free to PM me if you want. Thanks.

Talk to MORE THAN ONE of the foreign staff and ask POINTED AND SPECIFIC QUESTIONS (*when the boss is NOT listening over their shoulder)

1) What are the hours? (start time / stop time / breaks).

2) How many classes per day, week, month? NOT hour many hours per month. 30 classroom hours can mean anything from 1350 -1800 minutes per week standing in front of the class. The difference can be up to 7.5 HOURS in front of the class EACH WEEK.

3) Do they ALWAYS pay on time?

4) Do they pay at the end of your month or do they have a hold back period (5-10 days after your month end) to prevent runners? (no=red flag 1)

5) Do they really pay overtime or avoid it with creative book keeping?

6) Do you get credit for classes on the national holidays or do you get the day off but still have to work your 120 hours before you get overtime? (no=red flag 2)

7) Do they have national medical (with the little booklet)? (no=red flag 3)

8 ) Do they pay into pension? (no=red flag 4)

9) What about the holidays? 10 or more WORKING days? (legal requirement here) (no=red flag 5)

10) When and how do you get your holidays?

11) What extra stuff do you really have to do - mentioned or not in the contract.

12) Then consider the quality of life issues - things that are important to you that aren't mentioned here (housing, furnishings, THE BATHROOM, access to recreational facilities, shopping, banking).

13 Do they take additional deposits in addition to the delay in payday? (yes=red flag 6)

Are you out of your mind??

Why would you want to support ANY FRANCHISE of Wonderland.

That chain should be shut down.

Have you not read the recent post about the American who has had his passport and degree stolen by a wonderland franchise, plus hasn't been paid, made to work illegally for 6 weeks.

Give your head a shake bro.

Would you get on an airliner with 100 seats if you knew that 10 seats would be served a meal with food poisoning, 10 seats had no padding, 10 seats would be beside screaming babies, 10 seats would be beside violent drunks, 10 seats would be beside vomiting passengers, 10 seats would be beside aggressive evangelicals who couldn't shut up, 10 seats would have food spilled on them, 10 would have scalding coffee spilled on them, 10 wouldn't release their passengers at the end of the flight, 10 would eject from the plane, and 10 would afford their passengers a passible economy class ride?

No?

So why would you even consider working for Wonderland?

I don't support ANY FRANCHISE OF WONDERLAND and there was nothing in my post that suggested I did. The questions are questions that employees should ask employers. They've been posted many times by more than one person in this forum.

Alabamaman, why do you think I was refering to you? You aren't the original poster...

I hate Wonderland.

Despite specifically stating in my job applications (posted months ago) that I was only interested in public school jobs, I'm still getting offers to teach at Wonderland regularly.

Stay away. Stay far away.

I only had one offer from Wonderland and I ripped the contract to pieces in my reply. I was told to look elsewhere and haven't been contacted since Very Happy

I won't be taking this job anyways. I'm going to look elsewhere. I asked pointed questions in the interview and in my mind there were definitely a few deal breakers. Thanks for the help.

You made a good decision. I only wish there was a way that hogwans got blacklisted with Immigration too.
