And you can see me trying to talk some sense into them.
catinmyfridge is a raving troll though - pay him little mind (I actually think he has a few accounts on here as well) |

The common sentiment in South Korea is to side with the prevailing winds of discussion. I work in a rural school and there are a number of high school students who are on this anti-foreigner thing at the moment. Unfortunately the memory of things that really matter here doesn't get passed down to the next generations...Don't take the comments of those who really have no understanding of the meaning, purpose or value of educators who sacrifice their own life goals to come and educate Koreans. You know you do a good job, that alone should make you feel good about your involvement in the educational system in this country
Really, it is the comments of people like those in the linked reference that shows just how ingonrant and unintelligent they truly are. . Not sure where it was said, but someone once wrote: "He is a fool who thinks he has no need" This really sums up what these people are in character and morals. For some insane reason they have chosen to take the route of bantering and slamming the cultures of other people in an attempt to make theirself look better or feel better. They should just be noted for their foolish ideas and baseless arguments. I spend little time arguing with people posting comments based on their foolish opinions while offering no proof for their argument. My time is better spent working with the students who want and need my help. |

I disagree with this as there are lazy students and students in the same grade are not necessarily at the same English level. Some have studied overseas. Teachers should pass a proficiency exam, though. |
I liked this aspect of the discussion: I'm all for having a proficiency test, even if it is voluntary, since my value would increase. I'd also recommend that all Korean teachers in public school be asked to take a similar test. |
