The first and I hope the last.......
I really take offence at the notion that some GROUPS of people are "happier" than others. Too simple. Even when you look at poverty, disease, no future, violence, war as being factors attributing to "lack of happiness" , it doesn't add up. But I guess it sells magazines
I keep seeing those smiling Rwandan kids in the "Where the hell is Matt" video. Dancing and putting us all, in our preoccupations and obsessions to shame...
I remember being among people who I were told were "the unhappiest" on the planet. After many months, came to know them and they became beacons of happiness.
This map is just another attempt at pulling the rabbit of mother nature out of the hat. Won't work. She isn't there....

| I think the most amazing things about the distribution of happiness in the world are 1) its quantization--who would have ever guessed that happiness only existed in discrete packages?--and 2), its strict adherence to national boundaries. |
