I have been asked by my uni to teach a 3 or 4 week IELTS course starting early July. Are there any IELTS teachers / examiners out there who could give me some tips for teaching this test? What should I expect? I think I will be on the speaking and writing components so any tips on how to teach these would be fantastic. Hope you guys can help me out!

There are four parts to the test: Reading, Hearing, Speaking, and Writing.

Usually, native speakers are asked to teach only speaking and writing and other two are left for the non-native teachers(Korean or Gyopo).

Speaking test is 15 minutes and broken down into three parts (I, II, III).

Part I is just some general conversational phase.
Part II is Presentation phase.
Part II is Abstract discussion phase (current issues and opinion)

Writing test is also broken down into two parts (General and Academic)
It's total of one hour test for two parts.

General could be correspondence(letter) writing based on certain situation.
Academic is simply academic essay.

It's not rocket science to teach IELTS. It's very easy. Just have discussion with students about various subjects and current issue topics. You'll enjoy it. Have fun.

There are some supplementary material that you would be able to order in Korea. I recommend the following books:

Instant IELTS
Step Up to IELTS
Insight into IELTS Extra

These are the best books that you would be able to get for future reference in case you have future IELTS Preparation.

If you have other questions, don't hesitate to ask. But please look at this website for more resources:

http://www.cambridge.org/elt/catalogue/

Furthermore, you can provide additional listening material as well as speaking material as the IELTS exam offers different listening. So look at more discussion based activities, some different listening books, some reading and writing books as well that you can also buy. Don't rely upon Gyopos for teaching reading. It is bad practice.
