My principal insists on taxing me at a rate that's double the established one. He refuses to play fair and told me that I'd be able to get all of the monies returned to me after the contract runs its course.
Is his claim true? |

Unless he is refering to pension, and you are from one of the countries which gets pension back, then you are being taken for a ride. |

The only grounds on which you would get all of the tax that you have paid back would be if you shouldn't have been paying tax in the first place...
There are several countries where teachers in "approved schools" = public schools and ?universities but not hagwons do not have to pay tax in Korea for the first 2 years of teaching English (but are in their home countries depending on the tax law in that country .. Tax liability on the Korean income is different depending on which country you are from and your individual circumstances) .... Otherwise I would expect the tax that you paid to be close to the correct amount ... so would definitely not expect it all back ... The Korean Tax website will confirm the correct amount of tax for you ... I would not have thought that legally he actually has any choice about whether or not he wil play fair ... Korean Tax law establishes how much tak should be taken out ... It is not his choice ...
