C0ckroach hotels or toxic gel. What's your pleasure?

Since the government is reducing the toxicity of pesticides to help with the suicide problem (lol) most of us are going to have to find other ways to deal with our little friends.

I'd like to launch the biggest c0ckroach contest on this thread. Post your pics! Take measurements!

Also bring your c0ckroach stories

My c0ckroach story: years ago I was living in a rooftop hovel in Mokdong, Seoul. One day in the middle of summer I came home, opened the front door and recoiled when I saw a large black rat running around under the metal sink.

I dropped my bags, got on my knees and shuffled over to take a look. As I got closer, I realized that it was a c0ckroach--the biggest c0ckroach I've ever seen. It's antennae must have been 4 inches long. I was so scared of the thing I couldn't get near it. It scurried up behind the sink and I never saw it again. Too huge to fit in the little roach motels, I hit up a beady-eyed ajoshi in a subway stairway and procured some extremely toxic gel, which I strategically applied all over my apartment.

This place was so infested, I could turn the lights out and turn the 'nightshot' on on my camcorder and watch them all come down from the wooden trim on the ceilings. Hehe... Shocked

Jumpin' Jesuses, that's a disgusting vid.
'Little Buddy,' or, 'My Korean Roach Story.'
I was across from the 7-11 in Itaewon, down by the slimy Russian bars and whatnot, and saw a mouse run across the street from about twenty feet away. I chased after it, drunk, hollering about how I had finally after all these years seen wildlife in Seoul. I caught up with it and to my considerable surprise found it was a cucaracha.
A small crowd gathered to check out the monster mouse-roach, when--perhaps hoping to impress its friends or maybe apply for a job as bouncer at one of the bars down there--it started flying at people. With it's wings out it looked like a smallish bird.
I, like everyone, ran away when it came at me; but, laden as I was with dutch courage, I quickly turned back and flew at it. Little Buddy, as I called it, realized it was outclassed and retreated across the 7-11 parking lot and took a breather up on the wall at about head-height. It was about the size of a large thumb, maybe 3 inches long. A few of the braver humans came around to ogle and be grossed out at it.
Then a dude came along, batted it down to the ground, and squooshed it.
"Little Buddy!" I cried.
I was just kidding though. I was glad he/she died. Roaches will have their day, when us bald monkeys all nuke each other or forget how to breed or whatever, but that day ain't here yet. Until then, DEATH! DEATH! DEATH! to the Crawling Ones.

Cool story. Yep, you know when you mistake a c0ckroach for a rat or mouse things aren't good.

Do roaches really drink water out of your eyes when you're asleep? Surprised

This was told to me by a Korean friend.

Do you know why most Korean cockroaches are so small?

They don't have scissors. After stuggling through three layers of packaging to get a cookie I believe it.

That's unbelievable. Shocked

The poll is supposed to have 4 options but for some reason the last one didn't show up. Guess you can't vote Sad

Oddly, until I read this poll I didn't even know there was a roach problem here. Sheltered, I guess? If so, I'm glad heh

No! Don't take advice from a roach on how to kill a roach. It's obviously planted disinformation. Probably all the roaches have an immunity to sprayaway now and it just gets them high. The hotels we put out for them are probaly like little crackhouses where they can all squat around chuffing DDT and playing video games, getting ripped on our dime. It's like Canada all over again!
Like they said in 'aliens'....."I say we nuke the whole site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

My first apartment in Daechi had roaches.

The second one in Oksu had these frightening 10000 legged millipedes that would come whipping out of the drain in the kitchen sink whenever I tried to wash my dishes. I think that's why I eat all of my meals from a plastic wrapper now.

My last three homes in Korea were/ are all in new buildings, and if they were infested, the roaches have done a great job of keeping me unaware of their presence.

My first apartment in Mokdong was totally infested. I was phobic at the time, so my roommate would go out into the 'kitchen area' in the morning and flick the mirror we shaved in front of, stomping and slapping all the roaches for about ten minutes.

My second place is where I saw the 'rat roach'. It was also infested, but not as bad.

My third place in Hongje-Dong only had a few, but was infested with ants and mould, so much so that I was forced to move (the mould ate all my furniture and paintings).

Fourth place was roach free!!!! Never saw one!

Fifth place was great. Only saw one or two in the storage area.

Sixth place was in a brand new building and had no bugs at all.

Moving again next month (fingers are crossed).
