Just FYI, it is NOT illegal for people on E-2 visas to engage in public performances.
If they get paid for said performances, all one has to do is go to the immigration office, fill out a form, pay a fee and they'll endorse the visa, permitting you to get paid legally for performances, provided that the other income doesn't exceed the income from the primary visa purpose.
I have seen various threads touching on this topic and there is a large amount of ignorance.
I get paid for all of my shows, and I'm on here on an E-2. Of course, I also visited the immigration office and got "permission" (i.e. paid them.)

Those are pubic performances. |
Just be sure you demonstrate your "art" for the immigration officer. |
