I have a Visa question that I've been unable to find the answer for, so I was hoping that someone here might know more to help me.
My school has asked me to stay for 1 more year, which I am inclined to do, however for me to do so, I would need to renew my British passport (as it expires in the middle of September). If I were to renew my passport, what do I need to do regarding my Korean working visa?
I've heard that as far as immigration goes, all my school needs to do is call them and inform them that they are extending my contract for 1 more year, so that's not really an issue for me, but I am worried about the visa. I don't know if they (the British embassy) would just destroy the visa when they destroy the old passport.
Any help would be appreciated.

Renew your passport ASAP.

After you do the renewal you have to take it to immigration to register the change. They will move the visa and re-entry visa to your new passport. There is NO fee for this.

When you want to extend your visa (for a contract extension) you need to take:

A copy of the new contract with the end date clearly shown,
Your passport,
Your ARC

A copy of the schools business registration
A guarantor form from your school
30k won for the fee

an application for the visa extension (available on line or at the immi office).

The extension process takes about 30 minutes.

You can register the new passport and do the visa extension at the same time and save a trip to the immigration office.

I don' t for sure about the U.K., but my husband renewed his Irish passport, and they just sent the old one back with a hole punched through the pages, so he had his visa. The same thing for American passports.
