Hey-lo everyone. I was wondering if some good soul would take some time to help me download a Commodore 64 and NES emulator onto my laptop, perhaps instructing me in the process. I have been having a rough time. The applications are all screwy.

PM me if you would like to help. I'll make you a few Bombay and tonic's with real limes.

I can't help you with Commodore, but I can help out with NES. Download the emulator from this page. Since it is DOS based, there is no need to install, just run it from wherever you placed it. You may need to go to a P2P site such as Limewire and just download NES Roms in a zip file for the games. I hope this helps. Enjoy.

I read some disclaimer on one of the sites about downloading ROMS and the illegalities of it. Such as you can't keep it on your computer for over 24 hours unless you don't register it. Is this true? How hard are they really cracking down on ROMs these days?

For DOS based emulators such as NESticle, there is no need to configure anything; it should run directly in its own little window when you click on it. You may need to click on the colorful MS-DOS icon rather than the scrotum shaped icon. Another thing I do is I just click and drag the rom into the program icon; that also works.

The disclaimer is as effective as MP3 crackdowns. Video game companies are more concerned about people in China pirating their video games than worried about who is stealing their defunct 8 bit NES games. Ideally you should delete the games in 24 hours if you don't own a copy of the game. But if you don't, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thank you for the offer of chicken parm. But chickens frighten me greatly. I hope this information helps.

You have to download special software to unarchive a .rar file.

Hi Molly,

Try this website . Click on "Get Emulator" and scroll down to "Nesticle for Windows." Download it and open the zip file. Drag the contents out of the zip file onto your desktop. Then download some ROMS from the same site. Unzip them and drag them out onto your desktop. Click on the scrotum icon. You should see a bloody chopped off hand as your mouse icon. Click on "File" and "Load." Select the ROM you want to play. Enjoy.

Yep. Nobody looking for help on Dave's. People just pissin' each other off and making fun of dumb Koreans. And Google .. well that's just a robot server, no humans ever asked and answered questions on community forums which got linked to it's service -- nope.

Welcome to sarcasm.

Theres a big difference between downloading a program, trying to get it to work, consulting the documentation/existing information that can be accessed within seconds, and then, after all that, asking clarifying questions and saying "i'm an idiot who doesn't have any determination, please come and do it for me"
