I was feeling lazy (and hungover) yesterday, so I decided to have a 20 minute discussion in one of my middle school classes about who would win in a fight, Buddha, or Jesus.

Personally I think Buddha would kick Jesus' ass, but at the end of the discussion the class was evenly split.

Jesus got miffed at and cause havoc in the temple when those "b"s were selling crap in there.

i don't know enough about buddha though: Did he study any martial arts? karate or something?

It's almost like there's a whole other, deeper level of meaning to this thread... what delicious irony!

I'm pretty sure Buddha invented Sumo wrestling.

Oh, as an afterthought... kind of funny.

My (Christian) students accepted that Buddha was Sumo... but insisted that Jesus had speed and could stick in move... bam bam bam, then move away.

Buddha definitely had power on his side, and Jesus had the healing touch. But L Ron Hubbard had goons and fair game policy. We know how this would go down.

While I'm not into mocking anyone or anything that teaches something truly good and helpful be they a religious figure or joe-shmoe sitting on the curb.

But a big contrast? To me, Christianity is very..."aggressive" in going out and preaching the word, while Buddhism is a very "passive" religion. Never known a Buddhist, Muslim, or Jewish couple to come knocking on my door....

Anywho, Buddha would gather all his fellow "enlighted" ones in Nirvana(?) while Jesus would call up all his Saints...It'd be a free for all! Fire, brimstone, bolts of lightning...

Oh, L Ron Hubbard would kick the shit out of both of them at the same time... but try explaining Xenu to the Koreans... that would be worth a few laughs.

it's about the religious figures NOT the people who worship them.

Good point Khyber... Jesus' only "proven" magical feats were walking on water, turning water into wine, healing the sick, conjuring fish and bread, and attaching some dudes severed ear. Basically he was a hippy.

But I'm pretty sure Honduras (circa Street Fight 2) was based on Buddha.

Will this be pay per view cos I would pay almost anything. I'm going with Jesus. If he can walk on water he must have great foot speed. What they need though is nicknames. Any suggestions?

Dude, he's Asian.

As far as Jesus goes, I don't know what kind of a fighter he is, but we know he can take an ass beating, kind of like Homer Simpson when he became a professional boxer.

In the end, I think Buddha would win because I just figure after he found enlightenment, he was able to step out of the Matrix and could control stuff like flying.

So Buddha is keanu Reeves? I have to go with Jesus in this one, cos Reeves acts as if he is one punch away from brain damage.
