I have some stuff in storage and a friend was going to send me a box or two of things. He went to the Post Office (in Ohio) and the counter guy told him that they no longer ship surface to Korea. Only airmail--which is faster but costs at least 5x as much. Anyone else heard anything about this? |

There was a topic about it a couple of weeks ago.
International surface mail ended May 15. |

I know nothing about it, but I bet it's just an effect of not enough people using surface mail. I remember when I fedexed some stuff to Korea from the States and the cost difference between 3 days and 1 week service was like.. 4 dollars, just because nobody used the slow service anymore. |

The U.S. post office raised their rates to follow UPS's rate increase a few months earlier. Yes, it's tragic the surface option is gone. It took six weeks and was cheap. I slipped in under the bar and got a used sleeping bag mailed over surface. It was the surplus store guy in Colorado who told me about the coming (then) changes to U.S. Post, an outfitter named 'Grizzly Mike' . |
