|
|
This may be a really stupid question, so bear with me. I have a brand new HP Pavilion Slimline 7067. The installed hard drive is meant to be 250 gigabytes. However, I've just noticed that when I go to "My Computer" and click on the C drive in Windows, it's listed as being only 50 gigabytes.
I checked the set-up screen, and it lists my drive as being 250gigabytes. So, any ideas on what's going on here? Where exactly is the rest of my hard drive space, and how do I get to it? |

Nope, no 200 gb F: drive. That's the first thing I looked for.
As far as partitions go, I'm not sure. The store I bought it from did all the set up work on it, which has turned out to be a massive headache. I really don't know that much about partitions, though. Would it be possible for somebody to make a mistake on the partitions to the point where I couldn't access the rest of my hard drive? |

Go into disk management..could be that the partition was made but not formatted right so doesn't show up. If you see the partition in disk managment doa quick format on it since it is a new drive and it should be good to go. Hope that helps. |

Cool! That was it. They just didn't bother partitioning the rest of the drive. So, I just partitioned it and it's formatting now. Which was a little scary because my computer is in Korean, so I had to guess a lot at which button to push.
Thanks! You guys rock! |

HP is one of the few companies in Korea that WILL actually give you an English version of whatever OS you have installed on your system. Take it back and tell them that you want everything reinstalled in English and make sure that they give you the original disks to go along with it.
It's bollocks that they didn't give you this service automatically. |

I didn't actually buy it directly from HP. I bought it from another dealer because I got a really good deal on it. Apparently, it was to offset the fact that their computer techs are morons.
I haven't switched to an English system because, honestly, it doesn't bother me that much. Windows is mostly designed so that you just have to click on the pretty picture anyway, and a lot of the "technical" terms are the same in Korean and English anyway (ie partition, format, hard drive.) |

Unless something goes wrong. Then you need English Windows to wade through the fixes. |

Any dealer could have requested the English OS to be shipped with the system. It doesn't matter if they were working in an HP store or not. |
