The skinny: How can me and my GF leave our hagwon, still remain in Korea teaching?

We have been working at our hagwon for about a month and a half. There are a few other english teachers who have left recently and been screwed out of some money like apt deposits, and on top of that some other shady money maneuvers that I'm sure wouldn't surprise anyone. Regardless of all that, we have a variety of other reasons why we want to leave...and we have to go back to Canada for a wedding at the beginning of August.

We have considered just walking out but there are obvious repercussions to doing so. We are VERY interested in getting out of our contract and would like at least some options. We want to still teach in Korea, but realize that there might be issues.

Both of us f&%$ing off at the same time would give our already disgruntled director more motivation to hunt us down like dogs. Any suggestions? Options? Help?

Cheers.

Maybe if you told your boss that your girlfriend is pregnant? maybe he would give a letter of release? Maybe, it's just a thought since he probably souldn't want to have to pay maternity leave and also deal with unwed pregnant teacher.

Maybe this is a bad idea, but it could work. And if you want to stay in Korea you will need a letter of release.

You can resign ASAP and then get ready for a battle at Labor. It could be ugly, for a while, but in a few months you'll be clear of that place.
Are you getting health insurance and pension? If not, start there. If you make a big enough stink about those issues, they may be happy to see you leave.

Can you post the name of the rotten hogwan so others don't work there?
