The US accuses Iran of sending weapons and military commanders into Iraq which they say cost the lives of American troops.
Iran wants a definite timetable for withdrawl of U.S. forces from the region....In addition they want to share the training duties of the Iraqi army with the Americans.....
Is there any possible way that ther will be any concrete and substantive decisions/agreements reached at these meeting in Baghdad? Both sides are accusing the other of hampering the rebuilding and security construction of the country....
Furthermore, are both sides justified in their demands/accusations of the other? Are there really Iranian weapons falling into the hands of the Mehdi Army and others in Iraq?
Should the U.S. have a timetable for withdrawl and possibly allow the Iranians a larger physical role in Iraq's developement? |

manuevering to influence if not dominate the entire region's affairs. Starting with shaping Iraq in their own image. Do not get caught up in today's particulars.
The news incidentally is that the two govts are directly addressing each other in official, public talks. |

I disagree that them just sitting down together is a breakthrough and somehow constructive.....
They can't agree on anything about Iraq, let alone the other issues causing such a rift among them....
It's only a positive meeting if there are concrete outcomes in my opinion.... |

Talking to Iran is okay.
US can move its forces to Kurdistan.
Whatever Iran does to US forces the US ought to hit back at Hizbollah.
Iran can have nuclear weapons but they can not be allowed the strategic advantages of possessing them. |
