A short telephone dialogue, at 10:15 pm, with someone from a 'Top 5' Korean university

You're Not Worthy University : Hi, it's Kim OO from OO University. Remember me? I know it's late, but would you like to come in and do a sample lesson tomorrow at 2:40 pm?

Me : Nurr? Wha? A who what?

You're Not Worthy University : Yes, you could do anything, but we like the Lame Munchwad (tm) Series of textbooks. Do you know them?

Me (thinking) : You've got to be joking. This is A Big Famous Korean University? You call me up at bedtime and drop this on me? I used to use those books to teach elementary students, back in the bad, bad old days. Big surprise, though, I don't actually happen to have any copies of them in my extensive personal library at the moment.

Me (saying) : Yes, I know that series.

You're Not Worthy University (preremptorily) : So, can you come in tomorrow?

Me (saying) : Well, I'm actually packing up to move to a new house tomorrow, unfortunately...

You're Not Worthy University (interrupting) : ..yes, well, that's too bad, but if you can't do it, you might lose your opportunity to teach here for a few months until next time we hire...

Me (thinking) : Perhaps you would like to suck my balls? You want a professional, you might give more than 12 hours notice...

Me (saying) : Uh, well, sure, I could do that.

Me (looking at my wife, rolling my eyes, thinking) : Is this the most insulting freaking phone call I've had in my professional life? I mean, I'm unemployed and your mother is freaked and all, but should I just bend over here, or what?

Wife (motioning with eyebrows) : I don't know, but perhaps bending over might be in our best interests, jahgi.

Me (thinking) : Not a farking chance, but I won't be rude, as I've heard that can be off-putting to these inexplicably rude Korean folks.

Me (saying) : Ummm, okay....

You're Not Worthy University : Good! Then we'll see you tomorrow?

Me (saying, holding in the evil) : Yes, thank you for calling, I'll see you then.

Me (thinking) : You can eat the corn out of my poop. I would rather mouth-hoover the farts out of a dying donkey's butt than work for you, reputation and all.

Me : cracks a beer, and continues the search for a Real Job.

Personally I think you should have actually told them to suck your balls.
That's the type of thing you shouldn't keep bottled up. Well...IMHO.
Pretty funny BTM.

Well, I didn't go, 'cause there was just too much to do with moving house today (we just rented a cute little brand-new loft out near Bucheon...snazzy!). With all the rain today, we decided to move tomorrow.

But the plot has thickened! You're Not Worthy University just called me up and asked me if I'd like to come in later in the week to do a presentation, presumably because I'm so darn special!

Gettin' my hopes up, here. And proof once again that I shouldn't fly off the handle so quickly, even if it is good for a laugh....

Good luck, BTM!

I voted - "Depends on the deal."

Is this that Jeonju gig or another one (Ehwa by chance? They mentioned a presentation in their ad).

At any rate, you may be well pleased that you didn't tell anyone to lick you balls - Ha, aha, haaa!! Smile

thanks, man, your post cracked me up, my gut hurts from laughing. if it's any consolation, maybe some other applicant would like to mouth hoover the farts out of a dying donkey's butt at Your Not Worthy Univeristy, and you could refer them...how 'bout derrek? (maybe he needs a rest)
