Hey,

I'm trying to call my bank back in America. All I can find is a 1-800 number. I'm having trouble getting through. Hopefully someone cal hep me out. As you can tell, I don't call home much.

So, what do I dial? I've been trying 010-001-1-800+number. Obviously that's wroing. 010 is Korea's country code?

Aiesh, I'm so retarted sometimes.

I use a prepaid long distance card, the dialing is the same and you are charged the same rates.

Use 002. It's cheaper than 001. Very Happy

or use 00700 or 00365. Both are cheaper than dacom (002) and MUCH cheaper than 001.

00700-1-800-xxx-xxxx
00365-1-800-xxx-xxxx

It will NOT be a toll free call. You WILL pay international rates (about 105 won per minute to the states or ~225 won per minute to Canada) + your airtime if you are on a card phone.

Korea's country code is 82 so for your bank to return your call they would dial: 011-82-10-1234-5678 (assuming your number is 010-1234-5678).

Some (not all) 800 numbers enable overseas calls:

http://www.usa.att.com/traveler/access_numbers/country/index.jsp?iso2=KR&%26lid%3DGo_Button_Index_Page.x=13&%26lid%3DGo_Button_Index_Page.y=8

It's either free or billed as a local call, I think.

When I had an account with Citibank in the US, I had a non-800# that I could call collect, and say "OiGirl Customer in Korea" to have the call accepted.

How did you manage to talk to banks etc on Skype for free?

I talk to family for free skype to skype but calls to normal landlines such as banks cost - not as much as calling on a normal phone but still not free.

Calling 1-800 numbers with Skype is free, you don't even need to register. Calling landlines other than 1-800 numbers with Skype around 2.5 cents (US) a minute.
