...my lady!
Was at Samseong subway station on Saturday with my Thai girlfriend. As I bought the tickets, a drunken dude leaning on the counter mumbled something to me and tried to touch my hand, or the tickets, or something. I smiled and walked away towards my girl who was waiting outside the queue, thinking nothing of it. Just another publicly drunk old man...He looks over at me and smiles. My girl is studying the map, and doesn't notice him. I look back again at him, like you do, and the fvcker is just grinning at me.
We walk off towards the barriers, and there's some shouting behind us. We carry on walking. Then the shouting gets really insistent. I turn around, and the little toad is pointing at me. It's kinda comical and kinda scary at the same time. I pull my girl a bit closer and we walk on. Shouting. Really loud. Everybody stares. I turn around, and he's running full pelt towards us. I stand my ground and stare at him as he approaches. He stops, takes my g/f's wrist and tries to lead her away. It's bizarre and ridiculous. My lady slips his grip, grabs me and whimpers my name. The dude approaches again! I tower over him, look him in the eye with real anger and just stare. He backs off, only a little, and we turn and walk off.
We've gone way past the barriers, and now we're walking up the exit stairs! We're both kinda giggling, 'cos it's all so mad, and we pop up into sunlight and think of what to do.
As we stand there, a young Korean guy comes up to us, and I think, here we go...but he's cool, from California, just trying to help us. I say, we're fine, know where we're going, but there's a loony downstairs! He wishes us luck, and so we creep back down the stairs like a pair of schoolchildren. Peeking round the corner...there he is!!! Browsing items for sale like a normal person, the Korean market people who witnessed the insanity are helping him shop!!!
We duck back behind the wall and laugh again, whispering and clawing at each other as we decide what to do. I don't wanna hit the guy for various good reasons, but I can't be fucked to walk all the way round to another subway entrance.
We look back again, and he's vanished. |

Your story is kind of weird. Why did you buy tickets and then leave the station? Why not go down to the train? |

I was kinda distracted by the crazy fvcker shouting, pointing, running and grabbing.
I was trying to avoid a confrontation. |

Should have clocked him..I would of if he had touched my wife. After all, what do you think would have happened if you were the one who did that? |

I'm 30, 6 feet tall and weigh 83 kgs.
He's pushing 60, 5' 4" and is surrounded by his country folk...
What happens after I leather him and he goes down like a sack of shit? My girlfriend looks at me like I'm an animal?
Some big K guys come along and *beep* me up?
I guess this is the perfect thread for people to comment on how they would have handled it differently.... |

You'd have got bumrushed, beaten and taken to jail. You made the smart choice. |

I think you did pretty well for yourself. Yea, you'll come across that kinda situation sometimes regrettably, but no real harm no real foul. 'Course grabbing the gf's hand is grounds for a physical shove. So says my game book for Drunk'n Adjoshi Takes Offense to Korean Girlfriend Sports Guide(TM). Gotta know when to play offense vs defense...
As for the clerks help'n him, I think they were trying to help you out in a more subtle way by keeping him distracted and calmed down.
Hope your gf's ok after that. Any desire for her to go back home? |

Korea and Koreans have so far been every bit as rude, racist, backwards, xenophobic and obsessed by rules as I'd read them to be.
Add that to my score, will ya? |

This reminds me of the other night when I was at the internet cafe.
I was chatting with a girlfriend in Vietnam and her cousin who is married to a Norwegian and lives in Norway. We had the webcams going, so both of them were on my screen. We were just chatting, having a good time, but mainly trying to coordinate it to where we could all be in their hometown, Nha Trang, at the same time, since we're in three different countries.
Well, the ladies started asking me about some angry-looking guys in the background of my cam. I wasn't even aware they were there until they told me, so I turned around and they were glaring at me. I just tried to ignore them and keep doing the harmless stuff I was doing. The guys left before I did, but I was really cautious and had my self-defense supplies ready as I walked out of the door and down the street. |
