Swirly-faced' suspect can't afford lawyer

Accused Canadian paedophile Christopher Paul Neil made his first appearance in court since his arrest last October, but his case was adjourned for three months while the Criminal Court finds him a lawyer.

Neil, 32, is accused of child molestation, child abduction and other offences. When he appeared to face charges on Monday, he claimed he had no defence lawyer.

He was brought into court in shackles, hands and feet.

The court delayed the case and rescheduled the next hearing for June 2 at 9am. Neil will be provided with a lawyer by the court.

He allegedly lured a nine-year-old boy for molestation and detained him in his home in Bangkok and in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Neil was arrested in northeast Thailand last Oct 19 after he was identified in a ground-breaking technology breakthrough by Interpol.

He allegedly had left his picture on paedophile websites, but had "swirled" has face electronically to evade detection. German computer experts "un-swirled" the photos, which led to the identity of the man pictured in about 200 Internet photos abusing Asian boys.

Horrified friends who identified Neil to police after the worldwide Interpol campaign said they had no idea their friend and colleague was wanted for paedophile activities. (Bangkokpost.com, TNA)

You mean this thread: Post subject: CPN up before the judge
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=116065&highlight=cpn

It was moved to current events where it belongs (where this one is likely to end up too).

Never even looked in there.
