since i have moved here i've had this persistent gut... it's not big mind you... but it's there, and the rest of my body is quite thin... my face has gotten thinner and thinner but still the paunch... it aggravates me...

i never really thought about it, but the food here is really salty and the salt can contribute to bloat... at home i alway preferred bland foods but here... the food is usually anything but bland so i have decided to go on the banana diet for 2 weeks...

8 bananas and 4 glasses of skim er low fat (cuz i haven't seen skim here yet) milk a day... i guess i could eat random raw veggies in between, but definitely no kimchi, rice or ramyeon...

is it possible that this might damage my health?

my lifestyle is pretty sedentary, is this too many calories, should i only eat 6 bananas?

Gross!

Eating only bananas couldn't be healthy. And I think the experts advise against eating only fruit in the morning.

Don't bananas have a lot of sugar? Not sure.

Sounds pretty fukn' disgusting, if you ask me.

Excersize maybe? Then you can eat what you want.

If the rest of you is thin with the exception of the stomach area....well....have you thought about worms?

That sounds a bit much just bananas. Try just veges.. salad etc. Stay clear of bread, rice etc. I lost some weight from eating foods with no points (go weight watchers!) And some exercise should do it.
Good luck

I am not a medical practitioner, obviously, but I would recommend eliminating cokes from your diet, not drinking alcohol more than once a week (if you drink make it a gin and tonic (less sugar) and eat a lot of protein and vegetables. Actually, I would reduce eating fruits and stick to the vegetables instead. Carbs is usually the problem. Bananas turn into sugar pretty quickly as a poster above me said, so it is not the way to go.

Don't eat past 7
Stay away from soda
Drink water
Try not to drink juice
Try not to cook with oil too much
Don't use straight salt when cooking

Walk to work and back.

Either way, your diet shouldn't matter too much if you're doing a good half hour or a little more of exercise every day. I think you'd be able to eat just about anything. Once my car was stolen and found wrote off. I walked to work every day for 2 years. Drank like a fish on Thursday and Friday nights and still lost a lot of weight. Ate whatever.

If you live a good 20-minute walk or more from your job, it's a good idea to just start walking to and from. Rain or shine. Sleet or snow.

Yeah, soda is a killer. As is coffee with cream and especially sugar.

You could try having bananas as a desert one day. Slice a banana length-wise, put some butter and cinnamon inside the halves, put them back together and wrap them in foil. Bake in the oven on 200C for about 10 minutes, then drizzle chocolate sauce made from butter and a plain chocolate bar over the top. Don't eat too much of it though!!

chaz...bananas and skim milk.
"low fat" milk and bananas (fairly high carbs)....not much in the way of nutrients other than potassium.

I'd suggest:

1) Eat a salad for dinner; a proper one with more than just lettuce. If you love your meat, grill up a chicken breast (or two if you're REALLY into meat).

2) Don't drink soda or juice. Eat fruit of course (thought don't "go bananas" Rolling Eyes )

3) Obvious but NEVER eat snacks. Generally speaking stay away from sugar.

4) Exercise. As mentioned, a 20 minute walk to work is basically the best thing you could do; guaranteed 40 minutes of excercise 5 times a week? That's perfect. As you walk more pick up your pace. It's best to start this now before the weather get's wicked retahded.

5) Read books about nutrition.

6) I've been watching video tips on youtube and many of them are saying that crunches don't necessarily help lose the gut. It's said it more important that you use your big muscle groups and that will burn fat all over your body. One last tip I realized that important:
to excercise your abs, any hip rotation is useless (conventional situps just don't work it right). The only way to excercise them is to move your xyphoid process (the where your ribs meet at the bottom) towards your hips.

Here are some Googles I got on the "banana diet" and/or bananas in your diet:

http://manbir-online.com/nutrition/banana.htm

http://www.diablocyclists.com/FitnessHealth/InterestingFactsBanana.htm

http://manbir-online.com/tidbits/potass-stroke.htm

http://www.eatmorebananas.com/lifestyle/carbo_diet.htm

After one day I feel a bit gassy... but other than that I feel way less bloated and my mood is generally good.... I do have the day off though, that helps.

I am giving myself some toast and yogurt mixed with banana for one meal, and it's delicious... and bland... so easy on my stomach... I never thought I had a stomach problem before but everything feels... better... somehow... down there now.

I have also had alternating bouts of constipation and diarrhea since I moved here... maybe this will help with that too.

Maybe I'll eat some tomatoes later. A boiled egg or two sounds lovely also. I think low sodium is really a key factor in all this so far.

Put well ripened bananas in the freezer in individual plastic.

Frozen bananas are delicious in hot summer.

hahaha the banana diet. Not only are banana's the highest calorie fruit, they are also loaded with carbs. On a diet it is recommended to eat 1/2 banana a day. Do not do this diet.

Proof it won't work:

Years and years ago in the land of Korea, I went on a tangerine diet. You know those little oranges they sell for so cheap? Ya, Id eat about 12 or so a day...... 2 weeks later.....I gained 4 pounds.

Turns out, eating one of those puppies is like eating a piece of bread. Cause of the carbs. Therefor I was eating 12 pieces of bread a day!
