I'll be starting a public high school job pretty soon and I was wondering how good that medical coverage is and how it works.

Does one have to go only to certain doctors or are you free to choose?

Does it cover dental too? I seem to remember reading somewhere that Korean dentists (the average ones anyway) are to be avoided.

And what about getting my prescription for hydrochlorothiazide filled over there? I think I heard or read somewhere that it was not a prescription drug in Korea but was available over-the-counter.

Also.....anybody know anything about the availability of churches in the Namyang-ju area. I'd be looking for some type of Protestant or Evangelical church....in English obviously.

Hello,

The medical coverage is usually the national coverage. I twisted my ankle quite badly once and all treament, including ex-rays was under 60,000 won. (Maybe 65.00 CAD) Meds are not expensive. There are many good dentists in Korea. I will PM you a number of my friend's dentist. There is an International Lutheran Church in Itaewon and a great group of people at the Shinil Church in Yaksu-dong which is a subway stop on line number three. Check out the FAQ forum and you wil find a sticky about churches and much more.

Best,

K
