I'm looking to purchse a car but would like to know how much car insurance rates are. If you own a car, could you post your car make, year, model and rate please? If you want, please PM the info. Thanks

Do insurance companies here take your driving history back home into account when giving a rate?

I am with LIG insurance.. i paid 750,000 won for one year. Next month my policy is up for renewal, or so i thought. I called them today and asked how much my new policy would be. They said, sorry we dont insure sports cars anymore. I own a 2001 Tuscani and they call that a sports car.. LOL.

When i asked why, they said, " many Hyundai Tuscanis are fast cars and they cause accidents". I said, well how about u look at my previous driving record ( in korea) first before making assumptions about sports car drivers. 3 years and a clean record with no accidents.. hmm and they still wont insure me.

But they said, we'll try to find you an insurance company that will.. Why not just say, your policy is more expensive first, than to just say, sorry we dont want business from you.

waste of time.. rediculous.

In 2005 I was paying $283 a year for a 1996 Nissan Sentra.

I paid about 700,000 Won for a 2000 kia Pride.

I had driven in Korea for 5 years before that but there was a gap so I went back to full rate.

Compared to Canada that's not bad.

I was told by a Korean friend that there is a special insurance that public school teachers can get. Its like half the price that regular Koreans have to pay. Anyone heard of this?

Paying 500 for a 2000 Matiz.
Been told that I will get some discount for UK No-Claims history, but will have to wait and see when document arrives in Post.
