How long does that shipping take for packages from the US to Korea? My parents shipped a box of summer clothes for me on March 27th. Its been over 2 months and still nothing. The USPS website tracking says the order has been accepted but it doesn't even say if its left the US.

Anyone have experience getting stuff shipped to Korea using USPS First Class International?

My first package with USPS had two Ralph Lauren blazers in it and wasn't insured...stolen. Then my moms sent me two more via UPS and insured them. No tags, but insured for 400 dollars. We called (From work) the UPS people, who said I either pay the duty tax or write a letter stating that the merchandise was used. I wrote the letter, they also needed a copy of my employment paperwork and a copy of my visa and passport info. It worked, got the clothes the next day.

Maybe it's still in customs. neither U.S. nor Korean customs officials are the most efficient or prompt people. It's probably in a warehouse somewhere in Seoul or L.A. waiting to be inspected. If it's in Korea, there is a number you can call to check it's status. Not sure about the States though.

So, I called US Postak Service about my package. Took me about 20 minutes messing around with the automated machine until I actually got to speaking with a live representative.

The first guy tried his best to blow me off. his words exactly:

REP1 - "Packages 90 days or older are no longer in the system. We don't carry any information about packages beyond that period of time. Sorry, we can't help you."
ME - "Umm...Its only been 67 days. I'm still within the 90 days."
REP1 - "67 days? It should have been returned to sender."
ME - "Tracking number says its still somewhere in the US."
REP1 - "I'm not international shipping. I'll transfer you to someone else."

So I get transferred, wait on hold for 30 minutes and finally someone picks up. I inquire about my package and heres the exchange:

REP2 - "Can you give me the tracking number for the item?"
ME - I give her the tracking number.
REP2 - "What seems to be the problem?"
ME - I explain its been over 2 months and I still haven't seen nor heard about a package that was mailed back in March.
REP2 - "We have to put in an inquiry. Our system is down. Call back later. Thank you." (hangs up)

That phone call brought back all the memories of crappy phone reps in the US. Looks like I'll be calling back to the USPS on the hour, every hour until their system, IF its actually down, is up and running.

Ok, here's the latest update.

The USPS is gonna make an "inquiry" about the package. They said it'll take up to 60 days. If they find the package, they will notify me via snail mail.

So, the package was mailed March 27th. Come June 3rd they are gonna check on it and will tell me within the ext 60 days where it is.

You would think in this day and age of supply chain and package tracking that they could figure out where my package is a little faster than 60 days. Why did they even give me a tracking number in the first place??

It'll by July by the time they find my package. And if its still in US customs, it'll be September by the time I receive it. FYI, the package is my summer clothes that I asked my parents to send to me. I came here in January and didn't have enough luggage room to pack my winter AND summer clothes. Even though they were shipped in the Spring, it'll be Fall by the time I actually get them.

USPS can suck my @#%.
