I racked my brain and found only one.

At E-mart, they strictly enforce the 'No more than 5 items in the express lane' rule. They enforce it to Koreans and foreigners alike. No problem, as long as they are consistent.

Any more? I have no clue.

I believe it's only lawful to A) diagonal park in a parallel parking spot; or if one must parallel park, B) That the curbside wheels may not be closer than 1.5 meters to the curb.

I also believe it is required to leave your bicycle so as to block as much sidewalk as possible. I think this is the sole purpose of teaching geometry in Korea.

I've been working out at the most famous international franchise gym in Korea for several years.

They have what I call a consistently applied SMOKING ALLOWED IN THE MEN"S LOCKEROOM policy. I've seen it happen at least 50 times and always nothing ever happens.

I was shooting the shait with the Korean-American manager one day and brought it up. His response, I shait you not, was, "Oh yea. We've caught some people three or more times but stll there's nothing we can do. And not only that, they also piss in the showers all the time."

Now, I have worked out in gyms across Asia, North America and one in Europe and I have never, NEVER witnessed anyone smoking in the lockeroom. I've seen them outside and I'm not saying it doesn't happen but, personally, I've only ever seen it happen here, and with an incredible frequency to boot.

Yes, we all know Koreans don't enforce rules. I was asking if there are any rules/laws that are actually enforced.

Previous poster beat me to it. Sorta.

Any and all laws (not necessarily those applying to foreign teachers) that the Immigration Office comes up with. Though at the end of the day they're still Koreans, so don't go expecting 100% across-the-board equal, consistent and predictable enforcement of said laws. Just don't you go expecting that.

Any and all laws applying to foreign investors. Hell, they'll even think up a few new ones right on the spot that they'll be happy to enforce. I especially like the ones that aren't on any website (that I've found), won't tell you over the phone, nor will they be printed on any official form in any language. The ones they typically scribble with a pen on the back of a piece of scrap paper. Real confidence-boosters, those. I'd rather they just jot down a sum and their bank acc't #, like they did up until last Thursday. Sad

How about the way foreigners are seldom able to join any online service or or obtain some of the basic services anyone in their home country who was a foreigner could usually get with littel hassle, simply because "the Korean computer systems don't work for foreign ARCs"...Talk about discrimination to the max...Perhaps some of you were refused a Samsung card and told directly by the Rep of the company that the reason why you were being denied was specifically because you were not Korean...Yes it is true, because the same Rep told the same thing to my Wife who is Korean...Matters little that an honest person who works here and spends their money in this country should have the right obtain a credit card by one of the supposedly top card companies... Solved the problem though...Went through Nonghyup Bank and got one with no problem then after I spent my money and bought a brand new Sante Fe, I was given a Hyundai Platnum card which is much better anyway...
