I asked my boss if I need to extend it or if can do it for me and he told me there is some sort of leeway and a month or two doesn't matter. Is this true? |

It is NOT true.
You MUST leave Korea or get an extension placed onto your ARC BEFORE midnight on the last day indicated on your ARC.
Failure to do so will put you in an overstay position and you WILL be delayed and FINED when you try to leave the country. It will also result in a black mark in your immigration file and could cause problems if you ever want to return to Korea.
Take an hour and GET your EXTENSION. An extension for contractual purposes is only 30k won and a few documents.
(your ARC, your passport, an application, a one page extension to your contract with the new end/exit date clearly marked, a copy of your bosses business registration and a guantor paper signed and stamped by him.) |

Listen to the poster or face the consequenes on your departure from the land of the morning calm!! Your boss has been misinformed or he is telling pork pies. Sort this out immediately, and don't take no for an answer.

I understand there is a new law in which there is no penalty for an overstay. However it still violates Korean law with possible penalties of detention and or deportation along with a possible ban from Korea. Get an extension. |
