Hey, I am leaving Korea in a few weeks but will travel through China and fly home from Hong Kong so I'm looking to ship the bulk of my stuff home from Korea before I leave. I was wondering if anyone had used a good shipping company or could recommend one? I'm looking to ship to the UK. Thanks. |

Box your stuff up and drop it off at the post office. That's what I did. I went earlier to pick up all the papers to fill out and stick on each of the boxes. Cost me about $50 bucks/20 kg. at that time. 6 weeks later it was at my door in Canada. Easy. Check it out. |

Kuehne & Nagel (largest seafreight forwarder)
Schenker Stinnes Logistics
DHL cargo
have used them, but not for personal effects. I'm not 100% sure if they ship personal effects by seafreight but worth sending them an email and getting a quote (the people there speak english).......
Probably better to do as JJJ mentioned though |

My friend is the VP at an international freight shipping business. PM me if you want to get in contact with him, he may save you some money, but I don't know his rates. |

Thanks for the help guys. I'll check out the post office tomorrow. I just thought it would be cheaper to ship because i've got about 70 kg of books and clothes and two laptops to send home. Seems more secure with a private shipping company who you can insure the cargo with. |

You can also insure things sent via the post office.
It travels door to door with a minimum of fuss.
Scroll down - you will see that the UK is zone 3 and that the rate for SURFACE postage to there is 48k won for up to 20kg (max weight per box) and the largest box you can send is a postal #5 box (available at your local post office).

i've shipped sea freight via the post office and everything arrived fine no problem - was incredible - it's really very reasonable also
yes, you can insure it also; just be sure and wrap very well and plastic tape all over the outside, it may be out in the rain
shipping via a private company i've also done, is amazing - whatever you do compare prices - don't use the ones in the english media - oh they will rip you off
but the minimum is by size, not wt. you have like a couple of meters cubed i think - it's huge really - and for that i paid maybe 600,000 won total, i put a desk (old handmade korean wood) a lot of boxes and other stuff in there
they build a crate for it and packed it in the crate - they will come to your house to pick it all up.
you have to arrange for someone to pick it up at the port tho - that's the only drawback is it is shipped to a seaport not an address. storage there or whatever can cost you i think; but i had a friend pick mine up. she then had to pay some customs' charges, so i think i sent her another check for 100 $ to cover it all.
again, both methods are good. pm me if you need the name of my shipper i used, i highly recommend him; he does speak a little english also.
**just whoever you use make sure you make a good list of number of boxes, etc. and keep track of it, and make sure you receive a bill of lading; you don't want someone adding contraband to your shipment
