In the two months that I have been looking for a job in Korea I have had two school change the date or cancel the contract all together after I had sent my documents. Is this common?
The first school in Daegu I was to start July 30 2 weeks later they changed
it to Aug 30. Which was not going to work for me.
So found another job before I gave up the Daegu job, This job was in Seoul the recruitor and myself asked them several times if the date was ok they said yes.
Then at the interview the person was american I told him that I could not start until july 15th he said ok. I sent contract and then last night I am told that they took someone who could start in June.
Is this common? Does it have to do with Race? I am a African American female with very English sounding name and voice. But they have seen my picture and agree to the interview so I do not understand.
Any African Americans out on Daves Cafe please reach out |

Hakwons breaking or breaching contracts is a common thing.
I have no idea why the change at the first hakwon (race may have played a card) but at the 2nd one I susspect it was more a case of a bird-in-hand is better than waiting for one next month rather than racially motivated.

Common as mud. They would rather somebody now than later. Stick with it, something will come your way. |

I suspect some racial motivation for them making such a hasty decision to hire someone else.
If you were white person looking somewhat attractive, they would've gladly waited for you or asked you to come ASAP. |
