|

Am going through the application process for epik, then I see that hey say if you can't attend the orientation they won't process your application. However, they also say they are recruiting thoughout the year. Whats the deal?
Also, what do you need to do for the personal essay? |

The Essay - just write a bunch of gobblygook about why you want to experience and work in Korea. Nobody is going to read it anyways.
The orientation is offered 2 or 3 times a year. You don't have to attend it right away, and could be possibly attending it a few months after you first start. |

Oh jeez...I didn't even think about orientation!!! I've been here a long time and have a full household of things that will need a home. I've also got dogs. I'm not living out of a suitcase and can't just plant myself in some random place for 2 weeks. |

I got hired for October to replace someone who left. I never had any orientation so it can't be an absolute requirement. |

Once again Korean red tape BS. You don't have to attend orientations. I have known MANY teachers who came over to Korea with that condition in their contract who did not attend. I have known other teachers who negotiated to have it taken out of their contracts. It's a great way to meet other teachers though so I recommend it. However, if you are already set up nicely in Korea (eg. your second year here) then skip it for sure.

Hey people!
I am in the process of getting my medical examination for my epik application. Does anyone know if the actual chest x-ray scans have to be submitted or can the doc simply tic the box to say there are no problems?
Cheers |

Probably just tick the box. I kept asking my recruiter questions and told her I couldn't get an appointment until she told me I could get the exam in Korea.
So far I have not had the exam. |
