I figure there isn't so much difference, but many may think there is. Of course there may be a gap between a 21 year old and a 39 year old.

Does that decade or so of life mean a lot or not?

Nothing was special about 30 in itself, a bigger difference:

roughly:

20-25 university years & mentality
25-35 timeless adulthood
35-40 pressures for family, success, etc
