I was told that I could get a Chinese Visa at a travel agent in Korea. The travel agent gave me a price of $100.00 dollars for a Chinese tourist Visa. The reason for the $100.00 fee, is that I'm a foreigner.
I live in Gangwon-do and does the travel agents in Seoul charge a cheaper price.

Thanks

are you american?
that sounds about right for an american passport.

it's much cheaper for every other kind of passport though.

Yes, I'm an American. I forgot that the Chinese visa'a for Americans are so high.
64.00 if I get the visa at the consulate
48.00 to travel back and forth to Seoul.
So it is cheaper to pay the 100 dollars

Thanks

try another travel agent - this one sounds like he's adding a surcharge on it - i'm a megook and my travel agent arranged for my visa no extra charge but then he did my plane tkt to shanghai also; but i paid separately for it the week before, we didn't even talk about the visa so i know he didn't add anything on it

the visa was 60,000 w for megooks, 40,000 for everyone else - at least that was it in 2005; i would be surprised if it's more now but hey could be

you don't have to go to seoul, you can courier your visa there and back to the travel agent, it will be safe; about 10,000 w one way

it's also better to have the agent do it i think, i printed out the app form from the internet and it asks a lot of questions about where you plan to go and all; i was going to travel by train thruout, didn't really know - so when he did it for me i was happy i never had any problems and yes, i was stopped a few times, once on a bus and once on a train.

pm me if you want his email address; i totally trust him, even given his name and number to a couple of schools when they wanted me to buy a tkt back to korea because they didn't "know who to call" - i said here call him and presto! there's my tkt

he's even gotten me out of a couple of jams, this guy is the best, i swear!

good luck
