Depending on where in Sask you are going, Korean Air will start new, non-stop service ICN to Calgary on July 1. Return tickets are about 1.5 -1.7 mil. depending on your dates. 3 flights per week.
Singapore air is pretty good service (non-stop ICN-YVR) for the price (and you can use your star alliance / aeroplan card for miles as well) and then look at a cheap westjet flight (book on-line) to finish the trip home.
The Cathay flight is a long one with the layover in HK.
If you are routing through HK you may want to consider the new airline Oasis from HK to Van. They have some pretty cheap tickets as well for the transpac flight. http://www.oasishongkong.com/intro.aspx?p=110 |

Late August is crazy high season for flights to Vancouver. Those prices sound about right. |

I paid 1.41 million for my flight on Singapore. That's for a direct flight in mid/late August and the price includes all fees and taxes.
(It's a lot of money, but it is the cheapest August ticket to Vancouver and it's on the best airline of the bunch. Why anyone would pay MORE to fly on an airline other than Singapore is beyond me.) |

Did you buy it online from the Singapore Air Homepage, or go through and agent? I was told buying it direct was the cheapest. |

The ICN to Calgary is only temporary starting in June and ending sometime in September. However, it could be a sign that Korean Air is considering regular service sometime in the future. |

I got it from a travel agent (for a variety of reasons).
I'd be interested to know what other people paid for the same flight - Seoul-Vancouver-Seoul in August (or January). |

Last August (2006), I paid about 1.9 million won for a ICN-Vancouver-Calgary-Vancouver-ICN ticket. It was on an Asiana/Air Canada code share with Air Canada operating all the flights. However, I purchased the ticket in late July. |
