Suffice to say it seems to be a concerted attempt at abandoning any commitment to the visual symmetry that has typically been a part of previous Olympic logos.

Some rather ribald commentary on this blog...

Got any theories?

I can't see much about it that suggests anything mythological, archetypal, or religious. In fact, it almost seems like a deliberate attempt to avoid anything that could be construed as identifiable with one culture.

Isn't it obvious? "ZION"!!!!!

On a more serious note, the TV ad for the games that they ran in the UK triggered 22 reported epileptic fits with its flashing lights and colors. Oops.

It's the ugliest logo I've ever seen. It actually hurts my eyes to look at it Confused Bet they'll be changing it soon.

It's also a threat to people with epilepsy. Seriously, that was in the news.

Any bets as to whether there's a tangible TAVISTOCK institute angle behind the logo & its design.

I hope it becomes an issue big enough for Trey Parker to make fun of.

My current theory is that it's some crude representation of the "kingdoms" of the United Kingdom.

One Londoner said that it looks like Lisa Simpson giving someone head.

Since I heard that, it's looked like nothing else.

And nobody's mentioned yet that they paid GBP400,000 for the design.

It kind of looked like a badly drawn European Union to me. I could be wrong I guess. Either that or a pile of vomit...

You have the UK in the top left, France and Spain below, The Netherlands in the middle and Scandanavia to the right. Germany and Austria are to the right of The Netherlands.

Or maybe you have 2 0
