|

So they accidently put the end of contract plane ticket of some one else into my bank account, basically over paying me by about 500 bucks.
They underpaid the other person by the same amount. They have just realized this and now want me to give him the rest of his money.
I'd prefer not too but if they wont pay him, hes my freind so I should give it to him.
What a bummer of day |

Make sure the school knows you're paying him, or better yet, have them handle it all. You don't want to give him some cash, only to find out that your next paycheck is light because the had to get that money back from you, and all you have is your word that you did in fact give your buddy the money. My best advice would be to give the money back to the school and have them pay him. |

I've moved on to a new school. I'll have no more paychecks coming from them. I told him to see if they would pay him but since I doubt they will.
This is pretty funny considering they originally were only going to pay 70% of a plane ticket becuase I wasn't LEAVING korea. So it went from 70% to 100% to 125% of the ticket.
Stupid school. |

Keep the money and say you received it in good faith. Thank them for the bonus and move on. |

Give the money back to them and tell them to pay it to whom it's owed. |

Hah!
The company I work for is NOTORIOUS for overpayments. It's wonderful.
One of my coworkers was overpayed... double severance and airfare. He denied being aware of the fact when they finally clued in on the error.
Another coworker was still recieving her monthly salary for 3 months after her contract expired. She admitted the error.
Myself... I found my own apartment which happened to be 60,000won per month more than the school usually allows. I agreed to pay the difference, but 9 months hence, have had no deductions from my pay.
Would you say something if it were you? |

Last year, I had a problem with my ATM card and couldn't get a new one because my passport was at Immigration for ARC processing. I needed some cash, so I asked my supervisor for an advance. She ok'd a 250,000W advance and got the money from the accounting office and gave it to me within 20 minutes of my request, along with a paper I signed stating I knew it was a salary advance that I must repay at the next payday.
Well, I never paid it back, and it was never deducted from my salary. In fact, it was never mentioned again after the day that I received the money. At the end of my contract, I didn't argue when they decided to withhold 100,000W from my final pay to cover "unpaid utilities" because I figure I was still 150K won ahead. |

This thread is a good reminder of the type of quality people who "teach" English abroad really are. Not only do they cash in on someone's mistake, they truly seem to enjoy it and boast of it. Good job! |

although it is a problem they created, I do believe that technically it's still against the law for you to hold it.
You're safest being a straight-shooter and handing it back. They probably haven't figured it out yet, but if they wanted to, they could prosecute you for refusing to give back what they discovered was misplaced into your account. Not saying you'd refuse to give it back of course. |

This is a pretty low-end thread.
IMO of course,

Wow, look at you way up there on that shining gold pillar of morality! You are truly amazing. How does it feel to have never done anything dishonest? My dark, rotten soul wants to know.
I've done plenty of extras to earn the extra 60bucks, so go stand on a street corner and bitch at some jaywalkers. You do the world a great service.

The thing to do is to give back the money because it was an honest mistake and the money doesn't belong to you. (I mean, duh.)
Can we move on? |
