I don't know if this is the proper forum for this, but here goes anyway.

I have an F2-1 VISA that will become invalid as soon as I divorce the bitch Korean wife I have now. I have been in Korea for 9 years. (married only 1) Is there anyway that I can get an F5 VISA? I looked on the Korean Embassy homepage and it doesn't even have the F2 or F5 listed as an option. Can anyone point me in the right direction for information.

Please either post here or send PM.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that you have to be on an F2 for 2 years before you can apply for the F5.

I know there are those on here with an F5, so they should be here soon with their stories.

Winterwawa,

Is your story a common story?

Having spent a handful of years in Thailand I heard of and witnessed several marriages disintegrating due to the wives either initially being on the game or by them being out to get the white mans money.

I had my first F2 for 11.5 months. I then went to apply fo my F5 11.5 months later (23 months) under the F2 and I was told I could not apply until I had been under the F2 for two years. So, my guess is you have to wait until you've been under the F2 for a full 24 months. Also note, not married 24 months but on the F2 for 24 months so unless you immediately got an F2, you might have to be married for longer than 2 years.

Good luck to you!

I have the F5. It is true that there is a 2 year requirement. Just stick it out, I guess.

You won't be able to apply for an F-5 until you hit your 2 years with an F-2.
I've also heard that the gov't (immigration and ministry of justice) are getting more picky about issuing the F-5. (It's no longer automatically issued after living in Korea for two years on an F-2. Having children and/or considerable financial resources can help.) Your chances of obtaining an F-5 if they find out you're in the middle of a divorce with no Korean-born children are virtually nil.

The short version of my story is that my wife moved to Australia where she is living with her new boyfriend and working as a prostitute. I only found out after marrying her that she has been a prostitute since she was 18 years old.

For all you newbies to Korean, don't trust Korean women. This is my second marriage to a Korean and they both lied and cheated.

Thanks to everyone who posted. Guess I will never get that F5.

jinju, I'm not insulting anyone's wife or girlfriend. I am just speaking from experience and my experience (and the experience of many other foreigners in Korea) has been that you can't trust Korean women. Maybe your experience is different. If so great.

BTW, where are you from? What has been your experience(s)?

You must be a retard if you found out AFTER you got married that she was a hooker. I say we often get what we deserve in life, and you sure did.

Just cause you are a fool doesn't mean every guy married to a K-woman is like you. Take it easy on the K-ladies. Let's stick them all in the *beep* category cause you go for the easiest girl you meet.

If she's in australia...why do you need a divorce? Just tell her to screw off (I'm sure she can't file for divorce in a foreign country) and wait another year or so. Then you divorce her (make sure you are broke at the time) and get half her stuff and your much worked for F-5.

Probably not gonna help. To renew his F2, he needs to show that he is still married, and to get that, I'm pretty sure she has to be with him.

But I may be wrong.

OP, if you can convince a judge of her marital infidelity in your divorce proceedings and if s/he rules in your favor, you would maintain your F-2 status. Your visa sponsorship in that case would fall under your employer.

If you plan on remaining in Korea for a considerable amount of time, it would probably behoove you to seek appropriate counsel in the matter.

Additionally, adultery is a prosecutable crime here. If you can get evidence and present it properly before a judge, you could so bring her down. Twisted Evil
