So has anyone heard any predictions of when our annual summer showers will be starting and the length of their exciting duration?

They typically start in July and go to early August. I can't remember which month is hotter...memory tells me it's August that's the hottest. My first year in Korea (1996) there were quite a few deaths attributed to flooding....and of course - FAN DEATH.
