My friend asked me to post this so here goes...

My friend is getting married next month while on summer break. He will be returning to Korea as will his wife (US citizens). He has an E-2 visa. What kind of visa will/should his wife get and will she be able to legally work with the visa?

Many thanks people...

If she is entering just as a spouse she will be on an F3 (dependant family) visa. It does NOT allow work without permission from immigration.

She can apply for permission to work at any job she is QUALIFIED for and, depending on the job, either add it to her current visa or change her status of sojourn (switch to E2 for example if she wants to teach).

Getting permission to work on an F3 is problematic at best and is USUALLY, but not always denied. It is often easier to switch to E2 or E7 if she has the qualifications.
