Let's Go English books. Are they good or bad? My students are elementary level and speak next to no English.

Thank you.

Let's Go is the universal English teachers side arm...always keep your books well cleaned and lubricated and don't forget to pack extra pencil clips.

Many thanks for the replies.

I liked the "English Land" name. Also known as England. Laughing

The "Up and Away" series are not bad also as you can purchase the study book, the workbook and the homework book. In short, lots of reinforcement.

It's very Americanized. Nothing wrong with that, but am I supposed to mimic the accent from the cassette tape?
Let's Go is probably one of the most widely used hogwan books. It's okay for all the standard basic phrases, but unless they've updated it since I've last used it, they don't cover phonics in the first book, so what is a kid who can't yet read supposed to do?

What I like about English Land is all the practice in the workbook. Otherwise, it's not a very challenging series. English Time has a dialouge page in each unit that works well for practicing the patterns. Let's Go is a decent series, but I wish it would include more verbs in the first couple of books. Also, kids have to memorize the dialouges because they can't read them. Workbook excercises then are just pattern-recognition games.
