Every single job i've been seeing is single accomodations. I'd really rather live with a roomate...is that possible? Where should I look for those jobs? |

Shared accomodations is rare for an ESL position nowadays. It would only be a cheap-assed boss who would still try to get away with that when everybody else is offering single accomodation.
Why would you want to take that horrible risk anyway? You could end up sharing with a perverted, alcoholic bum who is just making a bit of money to start another 6 months of debauchery in S.E. Asia. Or worse! A Canadian!!! |

Yeah it would just be nice to have someone there with you. I've always had a roomate and never really lived by myself...its nice having a person around when you don't know the country at all. |

Way too risky...you could end up having to live w/ a Nova Scotian... Personally, I wouldn't wish that on the devil himself. |

A way you can get a roommate is to take the housing allowance and find a roommate yourself. I always hear of people looking for roommates. |

Don't take a roommate blind. That's a HUGE gamble, especially if you're planning on counting on this person for support when you get here. If you really, really have to, ask your employer to set you up with temp. housing until you find a roommate, then get an allowance. |

Typically, unless you are the only foreigner in the school, you can hang out with the other foreigners after work and at weekends, and still have your own space to go home to at night. Much better IMO. |

Ok, seriously, what's with the Nova Scotian bashing? I don't know who you've met that seems to have tarnished your opinion of Nova Scotians, but we're not all terrible people, and to put us all into that category is quite the generalization. Quite frankly, it just ends up making you look slightly closed-minded. |
